Sooo… it’s looking like this weather is probably gonna be the coldest, EVER! So it’s safe to say this winter should be all about layering your pear shaped body.

If you go online there’s so many rules for dressing a pear shaped body. We’re not going to bore you with the details, but the summary is that it’s all about BALANCE. Look for pieces that nip you in at the waist and don’t be afraid to play with textures, colours and cuts. Highlight the upper body. The lower body always gets attention. This way you’re creating more balance… almost creating an hourglass silhouette.

Okay, so here’s some of our recommendations for what you can wear this season…

Tops

Make your shoulders look broader to help balance your hips. Consider puff sleeves, off the shoulder, sweetheart necklines or roll-neck jumpers like Arket’s wool cashmere roll-neck jumper; a great cosy layering piece.

Bottoms

Always go mid- or high-waisted to hug in your smaller waist. Choose straight, bootcut, or flared jeans and opt for dark denim colours to avoid drawing attention to the lower body. Reformation’s Mason Pants are one to consider for dressing up, down or for the office.

Skirts

Skirts should also be mid or high-waisted to highlight your waist. Wear skirts that make your hips look narrower as this will help to balance your shoulders and make you look less bottom heavy. This beautiful Hush Naomi sequin skirt is the perfect piece for your office Christmas party.

Dresses

Dresses should draw attention to the smallest part of your body; your waist. Find dresses that fit both your top and bottom half, such as Zara’s long lace dress.

Jumpsuits

Whatever the colour, just make sure they’re straight or flared leg style. We recently fell in love with Zara’s denim TRF jumpsuit.

Coats

Go for lighter hues, statement prints, or structured cuts to draw the eye up no matter what you’ve got on your bottom half. Consider a bomber, puffer or leather jacket to add volume to your top half and for a cool sporty look. Stand Studio’s brown Kristy faux-leather jacket will attract attention for all the right reasons, wherever you go!
