Hate the gym? You are not alone. According to a survey, 25% of respondents would rather text their exes than doing a standard workout. We totally get it, going to the gym can feel like a nightmare when all you want is the body. Working out does not have to feel like a torture, can actually be as fun, as effective and can torch as many calories as any hardcore gym workout.

Hiking

Hiking is for you whether you are outdoorsy or not. It is a great way to kill two birds with one stone by connecting with a loved one, friends (or even your dog), or simply spending quality time with yourself. You can burn up to 100 calories per mile on average while enjoying incredible views and sights. Spring is also the perfect time to go hiking while it is not too hot, so what are you waiting for? Grab a friend, a picnic bag and head to a hiking trail. You will be surprised how many options are available close to you.

Tennis

Tennis is another great one for the outdoorsy and a great opportunity to mix movement and “living the lifestyle you deserve, hun” because tennis can be a bougie sport. Tennis strengthens and tones your full body (think legs, arms, core), builds your endurance, stamina and agility.  Playing tennis also enhances cognitive functions as it requires focus, problem-solving and strategic thinking to beat your opponent. It is also a great way for you to meet new people and build new connections, and can be played at any age and fitness level. So grab your cute tennis outfits and get your game on. If you are a total beginner, consider getting a coach to get you started with the right technique.

Dancing

Dancing is a fantastic form of cardio. It is a great workout if you are allergic to the gym because dancing is very fun and rarely feels like a workout. There are dancing classes at home and outside that suit every vibe from Zumba to Hip Hop or Afrobeats.

Rock climbing

Rock climbing is another great one that is often overlooked for some reason. It works your arms like no other workouts and is also another fun activity to try with a friend. Rock Climbing is extremely accessible to all fitness levels but the height aspect of the equation may be discouraging if you have fears of height.

“Kids workouts”

Do you remember all the crazy games you used to play as a kid that you have not played since? Kids can consume so many calories every day but they also have fast metabolism. Reconnecting with activities that you enjoyed as a child is a great way to boost your inner child and get some fun workouts. Hula hoops workouts, trampoline parks, backyard games, capture the flag or simply playing with other kids are my top picks.
