Does caffeine infused skincare actually work?

27 September, 2023 / words by IALH Editorial Team

So the idea behind caffeine skincare is to ‘brighten and tighten’. Caffeine is a vasoconstrictor (causing localised reduction in blood flow) and when used on your face has a similar ‘wakening’ effect as when you drink it!

It’s become a real staple in the skincare industry lately with big viral moments on platforms like TikTok. But is it mostly hype or does the science behind it actually give you lasting results?

Who should use it?

If you’re concerned with fine lines, ageing or wrinkles then caffeine in skincare can be a big help. Also, if you suffer from puffiness then it can help to reduce things like under-eye puffiness and inflammation in other areas of your face.

There’s a lot of conflicting information on caffeine in skincare and the best way to probably see tangible results is using products that contain it, but also contain other great facial ingredients like ginseng
