The best micellar water on the market

20 September, 2023 / words by IALH Editorial Team

Everyone can relate to the feeling of not wanting to take off their makeup after a ridiculous night out on the town.

All you realistically want to do is take your shoes off (just about) and crawl into bed, forgetting the mistakes that the party version of yourself made. Well, as an aesthetician, most people expect me to do an elaborate night routine or at the very least take off my makeup. Well I’m happy to tell you that I’m just like you and sometimes I sleep in my makeup too. Although it is inevitable to sometimes sleep in your makeup, we can all do a little bit better by using micellar water to remove our makeup before bed. Micellar water is a great way to have a rinse-free cleanse from the comfort of your own bed. As an aesthetician I always get asked what the best micellar water is, so let’s break it down.

Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water

The people’s champ, the absolute favourite amongst all my clients of all skin types! Bioderma have heavily invested into formulating a cult-classic micellar water that thoroughly cleanses all signs of makeup and nourishes the skin at the same time. The Sensibio H2O micellar water, will leave your skin free from residue, without stripping away your skin barrier making it a suitable choice for even the most sensitive of skin types.

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water

If one product could single handedly take me back to university it would be this! Garnier definitely hit the jackpot when they created the SkinActive Micellar Water. For oily skin types, removing makeup using micellar water, often leaves your skin feeling heaving which means you run through a lot more micellar water trying to remove the excess oils of the day. For this reason, I highly suggest choosing a micellar water that you do not mind using a lot of. The classic SkinActive micellar water is truly a gem in the makeup removal game for under £10.

Dore Micellar Water

Now hear me out… although Dore Micellar water is on the pricier side, I personally think it is well worth the extra coins. My skin has never felt as smooth when using a cotton pad and micellar water in my life! Dore tries to give you more than just a micellar water by infusing skin supporting ingredients such as glycerin and flower botanicals.

Now that we have our top three micellar waters, we can all hopefully decide to remove our makeup at the end of the night.
