Life has been lifeing recently, and whether you work from home or commute into the office, there’s just not enough time in the day to balance it all so it’s understandable as to why so many of us are so tired! Trying o get through the day is a drag and sometimes the only incentive is that hot cup of Starbucks, red velvet cupcake or cold can of diet coke. But what if there were better, healthier alternatives that will actually keep you energised? We’ve done a little research and want to let you know about four delicious foods to introduce into your diet to keep your energy levels up and conquer your day with enthusiasm.

Start as you mean to go on

Breakfast is more important that you think and the very first thing you digest really makes an impact which is why we suggest starting your day with a hearty bowl of oatmeal. It’s a fantastic source of complex carbohydrates, which release energy slowly and keep you feeling full. The fiber in oats also helps stabilize your blood sugar levels, preventing energy crashes which is exactly what we’re trying to avoid. Top it with your favorite fruits, nuts, or a drizzle of honey or agave for added flavor and nutrients.

Nature’s Energy Bar – Bananas

Bananas are a convenient and nutritious energy booster. They’re rich in carbohydrates, particularly natural sugars like glucose, fructose, and sucrose, which provide a quick pick-me-up for when you’re feeling like you’re lagging. Bananas also contain potassium, which aids in muscle function and prevents cramps so are great if youre feeling a little lethargic because of the time of them month. Grab one on the go for a quick energy fix to put a pep in your step.

Nuts and Seeds

Nuts and seeds are tiny powerhouses of energy. They’re packed with healthy fats, protein, and fiber. Almonds, walnuts, and chia seeds, for example, provide long-lasting energy and help keep your blood sugar stable. Keep a small container of mixed nuts or seeds at your desk to snack on throughout the day.

Leafy Greens

The anaemic Huns will already know that leafy greens like spinach, kale, and Swiss chard are not only loaded with essential vitamins and minerals but also iron, a vital nutrient for energy production. Iron helps transport oxygen throughout your body, providing the energy needed for daily tasks. Add these greens to your salads, smoothies, or sauté them as a side dish (chards go perfect with lamb!).

These foods provide a natural, sustained source of energy to help you stay productive and alert throughout your day. So, the next time you feel that energy dip coming on, skip the sugary snacks and opt for these nutritious options to keep your vitality up and running. You’ll be amazed at the difference it can make in your overall well-being!
