Small tweaks and updates can transform a boring looking bookcase into the centrepiece of your room. They hold so much potential but how often do we add anything other than books, or try something different with the shelving layout? Here’s some ideas to bring your bookcase to life, and they’re easier than you might think…
1) Arrange the books differently
There are so many ways to make your book collection look more appealing. Try arranging by spine colour to give a colour block effect when you look at it from afar. Or stack horizontally as well as vertically to create different heights.
2) Use artwork
If you have a deep bookshelf you could layer it with some artwork, try placing a your fave picture at the back and then whatever you want in front of it to add some interest and depth. You might already have something that fits into the space already, so have a look around, but if you need a little inspo, we’ve got you covered.
3) Don’t be afraid to decorate
Another great way to add interest is decorative pieces like vases (with or without flowers), ornaments weaved in between stacks of books or flip a book horizontally and rest something on top. The options are endless once you get going. Once again, you may have things you own already that fit the bill, but we’ve also got some great choices if you’re looking for something a little special.
