There are so many black-owned designers around the world who are creating the most interesting and luxurious garments. It’s great that social media has given us a generous amount of access for us to discover a fair few of them, but there are so many that people don’t know about. I wanted to share a few black-owned fashion brands that you may not have come across but I know that you’ll fall in love with.
Ndigo Studio
I came across this brand recently as I was FLOORED. The silhouettes, the structuring, the color palette. It’s been a long while since a collection has taken my breath away the way this one did. Ndigo studio’s most recent collection is composed of the most gorgeous statement pieces as well as separates that you can mix and match. Created by Waïna Chancy of Mexico city, there’s definitely a piece for everyone here.

Aisling Camps
Minimalism in its most luxurious form. Brooklyn based Aisling Camps is most known for her technical approach to knitwear and her pieces are a huge favourite in my book. There are so many cool looks in their roster that are worth investing in.

Thebe Magugu
South African based Thebe Magugu is both innovative and artistic with the use of their fabric techniques. The collection is full of bright abstract colours as well as unusual technical silhouettes that are not only fashionable but sustainable too. This collection is definitely for the fashionista who knows how to build outfits with ease.

Fenoel is the best at creating sultry resort wear that is both timeless and trendy. They’ll have you wanting to book a holiday to the tropics just to wear some of their pieces.

Banke Kuku
Banke Kuku based in Nigeria, designs the most decadent pyjamas that you won’t want to wear to sleep. Adorned with colourful motifs paired with the fanciest feathers, these pieces are perfect to wear to a bougie dinner or just to lounge in (with a glass of champagne in tow, obviously).

Kai Collective
Now of course there was going to be an honorary Kai Collective shout out! Kai Collective took the world by a storm in recent months with their famous Gaia print. The brand has so much more to offer with their most recent Julietta smoke collection being my favorite thus far. Great designs at great price points means that there’s no excuse for you not to have a piece in your wardrobe!
