Summer is fast approaching and it’s time to start planning the family getaway! Whether it’s a first or something you all do annually, jetting off with loved ones is one of the most wholesome ways to bond together and create new memories. Let’s admit though, it’s not always easy to organise a trip with family and that often starts with agreeing on where to go. So here I’ll suggest a few destinations that will hopefully meet the different needs and expectations of a family holiday and cover all the bases.

Go on Safari in Kenya

Fancy something different to the traditional summer beach holiday? Then consider immersing yourself in Mother Nature and some of the world’s most beautiful animals with a safari.

It’s no secret that Kenya is home to majestic safaris, all of which offers an unforgettable experience for your loved ones. The best time to visit is between July and September due to its dry season and great wildlife viewing opportunities, making Kenya a perfect summer escape for the family.

Popular safari options include Nairobi National Park and Maasai Mara National Reserve and to really top this trip off, visit Observation Hill at Amboseli National Park for clear views of the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro!

Finish your trip with a luxurious stay at Giraffe Manor, Nairobi, a fabulous boutique hotel renowned for their unique stays and majestic giraffe residents.

Summer in Sardinia

Nestled in the heart of the Mediterranean with pristine waters and unspoilt coastlines, this incredible Italian island may be overlooked but is a dream of a destination for families. Sardinia has it all. Luxurious resorts, nature reserves, water parks and stunning white beaches, you are truly spoilt for choice when it comes to things to see and do.

If you didn’t know, this island is home to exceptional wine and very much worth experiencing through wine tasting tours with an expert. After you filled your days with wining and dining, floating about in the crystal-clear waters and soaking up the sun, explore Ancient Sardinia to learn about its rich history and culture.

Take the toddlers to Cyprus

The two requirements that are often at the forefront of anyones mind when travelling with children especially toddlers and babies are safety and ease. It can be a challenge for some to be abroad with kids whilst trying to experience a holiday but with a plethora of sandy beaches, quaint fishing villages and fun activities, Cyprus is a wonderful choice.

The island is filled with gorgeous resorts, majority of which offer all inclusive stays, allowing you to have an easy-going trip without the need to venture very far. The shallow waters of Larnaca makes an ideal beach destination to enjoy with young ones and have lazy days in the sun.

Head to the region of Paphos to keep the family busy by day with water sport activities such as scuba diving and by night, choose from a number of fabulous restaurants for fine dining.

Adults on vacay in Singapore

If you’re family getaway doesn’t involve young children, Singapore might be the place for you. Due to its spectacular rooftop bars, restaurants, buzzing nightclubs and lively after-dark scenes, Singapore is one giant playground for adults and great for families looking for a child-free getaway. Whilst nightlife is often reserved for food and drinks, Gardens by the Bay is a tourist attraction that certainly has to be admired at dusk for its enchanting light show. Watch how trees, 50 meters tall, come to life through an assortment of colours.

For cocktails accompanied with an infinity pool and breathtaking views, head over to CÈ LA VI Singapore, an elegant bar situated 200 meters above the sea at Marina Bay Sands offering an unforgettable evening experience. Clarke Quay is a picturesque riverside quay filled with brilliantly illuminated boulevards, a huge range of bars as well as clubs to dance the night away.

Let out your adventurous side in Costa Rica

If you’re the outdoorsy kind of family or looking for an adventure in the jungle then Costa Rica is a must. Enjoy lush rainforests, active volcanoes, zip-lining, river rafting and water slides straight into freshwater pools as well as wildlife spotting like sea turtles, spider monkeys or a puma if you’re in luck! This is a bucket list destination like no other and offers an unforgettable experience for you and the family.

Costa Rica is also home to some of the dreamiest beaches so once you’ve exhausted yourself from being at one with nature, head over to Tamarindo, a town along Costa Rica’s coast and a prime spot for beach clubs. A few options to choose from include Ocho Beach Club, Langosta and Pangas, a particularly great choice for a relaxed night by the water with a cocktail or two under the starry sky.
