When it comes to vacations, we instantly think “where to jet off to abroad?” And whilst I’m the first to board a flight at any chance I get, I realised that I knew places like Spain and Italy like the back of my hand but couldn’t name a single place here to holiday in! Well, in recent years I decided to change this and familiarise myself with some of the country’s most beautiful cities and towns which make perfect staycations.

The UK has an abundance of hotels and retreats offering luxurious breaks and here I will name a few you should consider for your upcoming travels…

The Gainsborough Bath Spa, Bath

Step into luxury at its finest and a bygone era at The Gainsborough Bath Spa. Housed within two Grade II listed buildings with a history beginning from the 1800’s, this fine boutique hotel spa is an elegant blend of Georgian and Victorian facades, contemporary interiors and classic finishes throughout.

You are sure to enjoy yourself whether its through Afternoon Tea in The Canvas Room or sipping Champagne at the bar but the focal point of the hotel is the Spa Village.  A Romanesque setting beneath a glass atrium, The Gainsborough Bath Spa is the only spa hotel with access to the city’s thermal waters.

So feel like royalty as you immerse yourself in one of two thermal pools, gift yourself a spa treatment then unwind in the steam room, sauna or relaxation areas. You wouldn’t want to leave but should you decide to do a little site-seeing, the hotel sits perfectly within the heart of Bath, making it easy for you to explore Roman Britain and its historical sites.

The Lakes By Yoo, Cotswolds

Rolling hills, honey-coloured stone architecture and spectacular countryside scenery, the Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful English landscapes and an absolute magnet to staycationers and overseas visitors. Famous for its picture-perfect villages and natural beauty, this region oozes charm and will have one feeling like they’re in their very own rom-com. This place is no secret as for years it has been adored by many including celebrities so for anyone looking for a truly lavish staycation, the Cotswolds is a flawless start.

The Lakes By Yoo is a haven of homes, apartments and cabins enveloped by 850 acres of woodlands, meadows and freshwater lakes and due to the calm waters, the estate is an idyllic stay to rest and recharge.

One of the highlights of The Lakes By Yoo are the range of activities such as canoeing and kayaking, going on nature walks, playing tennis, launching yourself on a zip-wire or learning how to make cocktails! There’s something for everybody making it a wonderful place for all.

Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, Lake District

A modern opulent country house hotel, Gilpin Hotel & Lake House is a slick and seamless break in the Lake District located on two estates. Choose a secluded stay at Gilpin Hotel for glass and wood lodges with private hot tubs and ensuite spas accompanied by Michelin-starred dining and Champagne Bar or the Gilpin Lake House for country living across 100 acres, a private lake, swimming pool and fabulous spa facilities.

It’s an exceptional place which centres around peace so anyone craving a tranquil getaway to calm the soul and quieten the mind, then this is for you.

Beaverbrook, Surrey

Experience a quintessential English Country House in the Surrey Hills. Surrounded by breathtaking countryside and home to original artworks and relics, Beaverbrook is an extraordinary staycation with the ability to whisk its guests to a lavish time of the past.

Due to its grand scale and luxurious interiors, the main house consisting of 18 rooms offers an enchanting atmosphere whilst cosy country vibes can be found in The Garden House or The Coach House both ideal for families and furry friends.

You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to the fine range of spa treatments available. From Meridian Massages, facials and full body exfoliations to Vibrational Sound Bodywork and Acupuncture, it’ll be impossible to leave here without feeling like you’re on cloud nine.

Something to especially look forward to at this hotel is the dining experience! Beaverbrook has two main restaurants, one being The Garden House Restaurant providing mediterranean-style dishes accompanied by views overlooking the grounds and the other restaurant being the Japanese Grill offering an elegant menu of sushi, nigiri, sashimi and grilled meats.

Carbis Bay Hotel, Cornwall

How about a swimming pool with sea views and beachside menus, water-sports, stylish rooms and a superb spa? If this all sounds like just what you need from a staycation then head over to Carbis Bay Hotel in Cornwall!

The hotel sits along a private 25 acres Blue Flag beach providing guests a unique coastal setting. Families can opt in for beach houses or cottages or those travelling in smaller groups can enjoy beach lodges and suites or cosy rooms in the main house.

If you’re a foodie then your tastebuds are in for a treat as there is a great choice of dining. Summer Feast Nights for seafood lovers, chilled vibes at The Beach Club Restaurant, Afternoon Tea and fine Cornish Hospitality at The Hungry Gannet are just a few examples to indulge in here at Carbis Bay Hotel.
