Skincare to keep you hydrated in cold weather

We are just about to enter the true depths of  winter, which means the shift in our skincare habits is as inevitable as the clocks going back. The main concern most people experience is increased dryness and dehydration. Dryness and dehydration are not the same thing, but often occur simultaneously; dryness is the result of the skin missing oils, whereas dehydration comes from the lack of hydration as a result of water loss. Using oils in your routine, helps to condition the skin and prevent water loss. My current favourite products are all inspired by my desire to keep my skin plump and hydrated especially under heavy makeup this party season.

Summer Fridays

Deep Hydration Oasis Serum

Hydration can be the simplest part of your skincare routine and most products are formulated with that same notion; but hydration is the key to amazing skin. Keeping the skin soothed and hydrated reduces the risk of skin barrier damage. Summer Fridays formulated one of the best hydrating serums I have tried this year! This serum feels like falling into a perfectly balanced cloud, leaving your skin feeling brand new. The reason the oasis serum captured my heart is due to the absolutely stacked formula! There is everything you could possibly need to hydrate, soothe and plump your skin from oatmeal and aloe vera to squalane and arginine! Including squalane oil in the formula, makes the oasis serum ideal for dry and dehydrated skin. For the best results, apply the oasis serum after a hydrating toner and gently massage with your finger tips, focusing on any dry patches.

The Inkey List

10% Urea Moisturiser

It can be so hard to find a moisturiser that is able to support your winter skin, without the moisturiser feeling impossibly thick. With a less than sexy name, the Inkey List 10% Urea Moisturiser could be the moisturiser for you! Urea is an ingredient that has been picking up steam recently in the skincare community, although it has been around for some time and has been championed by brands such as Eucerin. As far as humectants go, we are used to hearing about hyaluronic acid, glycerin and peptides making urea an unsung hero. Urea works both as a humectant and a keratolytic ingredient to break down keratin in the skin which helps to reduce dry patches of skin. As most people tend to experience dry patches in winter, particularly around the nose – the urea moisturiser could be the answer to all your concerns.

La Roche Posay

Cicaplast B5 Balm

A true cult classic! The La Roche Posay Cicaplast baume is constantly sold out, always going viral on tiktok and makes its way into countless articles with the highest of praise. The Cicaplast Baume is designed to be able to be used on any part of the body and face as a treatment for an impaired skin barrier, which is evident by the uniquely soft and light texture that is packed with anti-inflammatory and hydrating ingredients. One of the most underrated skincare ingredients for irritated skin is B5, which is also known as panthenol. Panthenol works by holding water into the skin and also as an emollient to condition and moisturise dry and dehydrated skin. Cicaplast gets part of its name from the ingredient centella asiatica (cica for short), which is a key anti-inflammatory ingredient that can be found in many Asian beauty products. Cicaplast is one of the most recommended products in my skin clinic post chemical peels!
