Party season is upon us, which means late nights filled with champagne and a full face of makeup! The worst part of the night for most people is trying to remove their makeup, whilst swaying side to side and longing for sleep. I absolutely have to agree! It took me while to figure out the best routine to remove a full face of makeup in the most efficient way.
The most important tip to remember for a post party routine is to lay out your products prior to leaving so you can stick to a set structure and go to bed in a timely manner.
1) Cleansers
Cleansing is the messiest part of your routine and often the most time consuming. Using a cleansing balm or micellar water to breakdown the layers of makeup will ensure you have a clean base to start from. Micellar water is a great option for those that have individual eyelashes or would like to remove makeup with more precision, however it may require the use of quite a few cotton pads. Cleansing balms are a fuss-free way of removing every ounce of makeup all at once! You can also use this time to give yourself a quick facial massage – if you have the energy.
2) Serums
Serums can be a complex part of your skincare routine and after a night out, they are completely optional but could elevate your skin to the next level. The most common concern post-makeup is breaking out, which can be due to a variety of reasons such as not properly cleaning your makeup tools. Choosing a serum that contains an antibacterial ingredient such as azelaic acid would be an ideal choice to combat breakouts and pigmentation. Azelaic acid can also be used to help combat texture, so it is really a 3-in-1 ingredient.
3) Moisturiser
This is an essential step in your post-party routine! Your skin can often feel dry and dehydrated after a night of drinking, so selecting a moisturiser that is thick enough to keep your skin barrier intact and feeling silky in the morning. Storing your moisturiser in the fridge can also create a relaxing experience that can help soothe puffiness in the skin.
